Boat fire on Lake Conroe destroys boat but boaters safe

CONROE, TX -- Boaters and fishermen on Lake Conroe came to the rescue of a Formula speed boat that caught fire on the lake Sunday afternoon. On board were two men and the two daughters of one of them, a teenager and a 5-year old. Other boaters sped to their aid when they saw the flames and alerted the Lake Patrol. One onlooker on land said the Lake Patrol’s response was ‘impressive and quick.’

The Lake Patrol transferred the boating party from an assisting boat and towed the boat to shore. According to onlookers, the boat appeared to be a total loss. They speculated that the inboard motor caught fire, and it spread below deck. It was reported that the boat was engulfed in flames quickly.
