CONROE, Texas -- The MCABW board held their monthly meeting to get their ducks in a row, and did exactly that with a unanimous vote to sponsor Montgomery County Emergency Assistance as their next quarter’s non-profit beneficiary. The organization’s quarterly stipend to support a member with a 501(c)3 designation, will be donated to MCEA for their annual duck race fundraiser.

MCABW becomes initial sponsor of the annual July 4th fundraiser.

Chairing the meeting in director, Carol Gooch’s absence, charter board member, Stephanne Laviolette, spoke for the board.

“We’re all about ‘women helping women,’ that’s our motto,” said Laviolette. “We not only have an opportunity to help a lot of people in the community who need assistance, many of whom are women, we’ll be supporting one of our own members, Margie Taylor, who is new to the MCEA team.”

Taylor was called the following morning and informed of the selection. She was in route to a MCEA board meeting when she received the call.

“This is great news,” said Taylor. “The MCABW is the first sponsor for the 2013 MCEA Duck Race. I can’t wait to inform the board that the MCABW was the first to kick off this year’s event.”

The excitement was reciprocated when Laviolette heard that the MCABW was the first sponsor on board.

“We’re thrilled and proud to be the first sponsor of this year’s duck race fundraiser,” said Laviolette. “It’s for such an essential cause.”

Among their essential services, the Montgomery County Emergency Assistance provides basic necessities like food, clothing, and prescriptions, temporary financial assistance for utilities, housing, and childcare assistance, as well as life skills training. The annual duck race is the MCEA’s premier fundraiser.

As in the past, the 2013 MCEA Duck Race will be held on July 4th. The sale of ducks will soon commence, and sponsorships are available at this time. Duck sales will be available at all MCABW events which includes their monthly luncheon on the 4th Tuesday of each month at Incredible Pizza in Conroe, their monthly evening mixer the 2nd Tuesday of the month, and the breakfast seminars held the first Tuesday of every month. For locations of the mixers and seminars, refer to the MCABW website at MCABW.

“In the past, when we’ve supported this event, our members’ duck sales have doubled the MCABW’s contribution,” said Laviolette. “I have no doubt that our members will wholeheartedly support this event.”

The MCEA has a Facebook page dedicated to the 2013 MCEA Duck Race from which more duck race information can be obtained. More information about the Montgomery County Emergency Assistance can be obtained from the website link provided.
