CONROE, Texas – The Conroe High School baseball team brought its bats to The Diamonds at College Park, scoring seven runs and hammering out 14 hits on four College Park Cavaliers pitchers. But a late surge by the home team produced a 13-7 win Tuesday, April 9, for the Cavaliers. Still it was an encouraging output from the Tigers’ lineup.

It was the fifth time this season that the Tigers scored seven runs in a game. Only once have they scored more in a game this season. That was a 9-4 win over Tomball Memorial in the second game of the 2013 season.

Mitch Henshaw led Conroe’s attack on Tuesday with three hits, including a home run and a double. Henshaw drove in two runs.

Alex Delos-Reyes (RBI) and Cordel Vogel (2 SB) also collected three hits apiece for the Tigers while Seth Pettier added two hits and an RBI. Chris Stevenson contributed to the attack with a hit and an RBI and Connor Ontivarous added a hit.

Conroe jumped on the Cavaliers with a three-run first inning, but the home team answered with a three-run first inning of its own. The game was tied 4-4 into the fifth inning before College Park rallied for four runs. They followed it up with a five-run sixth inning.

Conroe outhit the Cavaliers 14-9.

The Tigers slipped to 6-19 overall and 1-8 in District 13-5A play.

The Woodlands (9-0) holds a firm lead in the district standings with Oak Ridge (5-3), A&M Consolidated (5-4) and College Park (4-4) following in order. Lufkin (3-5) and Bryan (3-6) are still in the playoff chase.

Three games remain on Conroe’s schedule this season. The Tigers host Oak Ridge at 7 p.m. Friday, April 12 before visiting The Woodlands on Friday, April 19. The season finale is 6 p.m. Friday, April 26, when the Tigers host Lufkin.
