MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Texas -- Meals on Wheels Montgomery County (MOWMC) has announced the selection of Summer Day as its new Executive Director. Day will fill the vacancy created by the departure of the former Executive Director, Allison Hullet in July to join the local Montgomery County Food Bank.
Day had previously served as Operations Manager for MOWMC, during which time she revised and streamlined operations to be more effective and efficient. Within the first three months of her tenure, MOWMC was able to increase service by 22%, while reaching the most in need client base.
“We are very pleased to announce this appointment,” said Bill Crowl, of Crowl & Associates, PLLC, and MOWMC Board Chair. “As our new Executive Director, Summer is bringing fresh leadership and creativity to the MOWMC’s programs and cultivating a deep sense of commitment to the non-profit sector in our community.”
Day’s resume includes over 15 years of experience in public relations, communications, administration, and planning across diverse industries. She has spent the last six years working in the non-profit community. Prior to her employment at Meals on Wheels Montgomery County, she served as the Program Manager of Days of Caring of Montgomery County and then Greater Houston. During her tenure at United Way, she grew her program capacity by 500% in five years, ultimately completing 479 projects and engaging over 1750 volunteers annually.
Day is a graduate of University of Houston – Downtown. She has been a resident of Montgomery County for almost 20 years. Her passion has always been to assist those in need, which included spending time in Africa and Asia before settling in The Woodlands.
Day added, “My heart is serving those in need while building strong relationships with the team that fulfills that mission. My staff is the foundation of this organization and I am honored to work alongside such an amazing team. I am ready to take this to next level!”
