Roadway Expansion Projects to benefit Conroe

Montgomery County and the city of Conroe will join together on a project to extend FM 1484 to Loop 336, providing more direct access for businesses in Conroe Park North to the Lone Star Executive Airport.

The county will also realign FM 1484 to accomodate a longer airport runway and open more land for development.

Among the realignment plans according to Montgomery County are the following:

* FM 1484 between FM 2432 and FM 3083.

* Funded through the state "pass-through" toll program.

* Allows for the extension of Lone Star Executive Airport runway to 7,500 feet.

* Opens up 3,000 acres of vacant land for development.

* Projected to be complete by 2010.

Extension plans include:

* Linking FM 3083 to Loop 336.

* Provides more direct access between Conroe Park North and airport.

* Funded by local county road bonds and Conroe Industrial Development Council.

* Expected to be complete by 2010.
