Conroe Art League Invitational exhibit showcases artists from throughout the nation

CONROE, Texas - The Conroe Art League’s 2016 Invitational Show drew a huge crowd and rave reviews for the 224 entries, 51 of them juried, at the Saturday, February 6, reception at the Madeley Building in historic downtown Conroe. Over 150 artists and art patrons attended the event to view art submitted from around the nation.

Exhibit on display through February 27.

Francesca Fuchs, head of the painting department of the Glassell School of Art in Houston, juried in the 51 exceptional pieces on display with the other 173 comprised of all media, providing one of the most eclectic exhibits hosted by the Conroe Art League to date.

“This is a great opportunity for the community to see a wide display of art forms from artists outside of the local area,” said CAL board member, Steve Clifford. “We’re already talking about next year’s invitational show.”

Art on display came from coast to coast, and as far north as Chicago. The exhibit is a ‘must see,’ and will be in the gallery through February 27. Call 936-756-9572 for gallery hours. See Photo Gallery for winners.

Spring will be a busy season for the The Conroe Art League starting with their annual Spring show Saturday, March 5, at from 2 to 4:00 p.m., hosted once again by 1st Baptist Church of Conroe located at 600 N Main, Conroe (77301). Artists from Lone Star Art Guild leagues throughout the state, will compete for the awards.

Overlapping the spring show will be the CAL "Dust Bowl Motel" themed art exhibit, March 2 - April 5. A reception will be hosted by the Conroe Art League at the Madeley Building Friday, March 18, and Saturday, March 19, from 5 to 8:00 p.m. The audience attending the play will be invited to the gallery to meet the cast and playwright, Scott McCarley, after the Friday and Saturday performances.
