WILLIS, TX -- On July 16, 2025, at approximately 11:43 PM, the Precinct 1 Constable's Office responded to a disturbance involving vehicles in the HEB parking lot, located at FM1097 and IH45 in Willis, Texas. As deputies approached the group, several cars began to leave upon noticing the officer's presence.

One of the deputies attempted to stop and make contact with a truck, but the driver, trying to flee, accelerated and left the parking lot with the deputy clinging to the running board of the vehicle. The deputy who was on the running board was ultimately thrown from the truck before it exited the lot.

The suspect vehicle then led deputies on a brief pursuit before crashing into another car at the intersection of FM 1097 and North Bell Street in Willis. The suspect vehicle came to rest after striking Willis City Hall. The juvenile driver exited the truck and fled the scene on foot. Our deputy, as well as all occupants of the crash, were taken to the hospital where they were treated for their injuries.

The juvenile suspect was able to elude police until the next day (July 17), when he was turned in to police by his parents.
