CONROE, TX -- On Friday, August 29, 2025, Montgomery County Precinct 1 Marine Division Deputies, along with Texas Parks and Wildlife, Fire Boat 6, and Fire Boat 94, responded to the area of Atkins Creek in Lake Conroe after a caller called 911 stating a male had jumped off a boat and had not resurfaced.

The male, identified as 34-year-old Teraan Williams of Houston, Texas, reportedly entered the water voluntarily to retrieve his hat that had blown off while the vessel was underway. It was reported that Mr. Williams was not wearing his life jacket when he entered the water, and shortly after, he began to struggle, at which point, another party on the vessel entered the water in an attempt to help him but was unsuccessful.

A coordinated search was immediately launched by the responding agencies, and Mr. Williams was located and recovered shortly thereafter.

Constable Philip Cash and the Montgomery County Precinct 1 Constable’s Office extend their deepest condolences to the family and friends of Mr. Williams during this difficult time.

Constable Cash would also like to remind everyone enjoying Lake Conroe that life jackets save lives. Regardless of swimming ability, a properly fitted life jacket should always be worn when in or around the water. Remember to be sensible and be safe!
