Critical Incident Involving Barricaded Subject in Pinehurst
PINEHURST, TX -- On Monday, November 17, 2025, during the morning hours, MCSO units were initially dispatched to a welfare check at a cemetery in Magnolia concerning a male threatening suicide by firearm. MCSO units arrived on location and attempted to detain the male, but he was able to evade custody and flee the scene into Harris County. An Attempt to Locate (ATL) was immediately broadcast to surrounding law enforcement agencies.
At approximately 11:05 a.m., information was received that the male was located at a McDonald’s restaurant at 32323 Highway 249 in Pinehurst, Texas. Multiple units from the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office and the Harris County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) responded and attempted to make contact with the male, who had barricaded himself in a bathroom.
During attempts to de-escalate the situation the male subject told the units he was armed with a firearm and refused to comply or surrender. The subject ultimately fired a single shot, injuring himself.
The male has been identified as Shane Moresco, W/M, born 07/30/2004. The Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office had previously accepted charges against Moresco related to an earlier incident this morning, including Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon (Family Violence) and Evading Arrest in a Vehicle.
MCHD was contacted and transported Moresco to a local hospital for emergency medical treatment where he remains in critical condition.
The incident is under joint investigation by several agencies, including the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, the Texas Rangers, the Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office, and the Harris County Sheriff’s Office.
