Conroe Police Investigating Threatening and Harassing Communications Directed at City Officials and Staff

CONROE, TX -- The Conroe Police Department is investigating reports of threatening and harassing communications directed toward City of Conroe elected officials and staff.

Investigators are working collaboratively with County, State, and Federal law enforcement partners to identify the source of the communications, preserve relevant evidence, assess potential safety concerns, and determine whether any criminal offenses have occurred. Appropriate investigative, protective, and enforcement measures will be taken as warranted.

The Conroe Police Department recognizes and respects the constitutional rights of individuals to criticize government, express their views, petition elected officials, peacefully assemble, and participate in the democratic process. These freedoms are fundamental and will continue to be protected.

However, threats of violence, harassment, intimidation, and other unlawful conduct will not be tolerated.

Elected officials and City staff must be able to carry out their lawful duties without being subjected to threats of violence or other unlawful behavior. Reports of such conduct will be taken seriously, thoroughly investigated, and addressed based on the facts, available evidence, and applicable law.
