CONROE, TX -- During the late morning hours of October 5, an officer with the Conroe Police Department’s Crime Reduction Unit (CRU) observed a black Toyota coupe parked at a gas station near Crockett Martin Road and Highline Blvd. The vehicle was known to be operated by a wanted suspect.

A short time later, the officer observed the vehicle turn from Crockett Martin Road onto Highline Blvd. Using binoculars, the officer confirmed the driver was 26-year-old William Helm, who had active felony warrants.

The officer attempted to conduct a traffic stop, but Helm failed to stop and accelerated to evade the officer, initiating a pursuit.

After identifying a safe location to end the pursuit, the officer conducted a PIT maneuver, causing the suspect vehicle to come to a stop. A high-risk traffic stop was then conducted, and with the assistance of a nearby Montgomery County Precinct 1 Deputy Constable, Helm was taken into custody without further incident.

Helm was arrested for:
• Evading in a Motor Vehicle
• Bell County Felony Theft Warrant
• Montgomery County Felony Possession of a Controlled Substance Warrant

Great work by our CRU officer for bringing the pursuit to a safe conclusion, and thank you to the Montgomery County Precinct 1 Deputy Constable who was nearby and quickly provided assistance.
