Leadership Montgomery County announces new chairman, board members

Leadership Montgomery County (LMC) is pleased to announce Linda Nelson as its new chairman for the 2012-2013 year, as well as five new board members.

Linda Nelson is Director of Business Unit Marketing at Memorial Hermann The Woodlands Hospital. Nelson completed her undergraduate degree in business at West Virginia Wesleyan College and her MBA at Texas Women’s University. Nelson serves her community as an active volunteer.

She is a 1999 graduate of Leadership Montgomery County and has served LMC as alumni chairperson, board member and vice chair. She was recently elected to the South Montgomery County Woodlands Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors and is also on the Board of Directors for the Greater Conroe/Lake Conroe Area Chamber of Commerce. Nelson is a member of the United Way Community Well Being Strategic Investment Panel and the Site Based Committee for The Woodlands High School.

Four new board members are joining the board of directors in the new year including Julie Ambler of The Woodlands Christian Academy, Debbie Buckalew Campbell of Woodforest National Bank, Roger Goertz of Mr. Rooter Plumbing and Jonathan Unterreiner of Jones & Carter, Inc.

They join Andrew DuBois of Houston Community Newspapers who was reappointed to another term. Julie Ambler has been the head of school at The Woodlands Christian Academy since 2006. A 2010 graduate of Leadership Montgomery County, she serves as president of the Executive Women’s Alliance and the Montgomery County Coalition of Christian Schools. She is a member of the Rotary Club of The Woodlands, the Affinity Team of the South Montgomery County Woodlands Chamber of Commerce and a Paul Harris Fellow.

Ambler holds a B.A. and an M.B.A. from The University of Texas at Austin. Debbie Buckalew Campbell is a vice president of Woodforest National Bank where she has served as a commercial, mortgage, and consumer lender since 2001. Prior to her position with the bank, she accumulated 23 years of banking experience in Houston, Austin, and Waco. Buckalew Campbell participates in a variety of community activities including South Montgomery County Woodlands Chamber of Commerce, Greater Conroe/Lake Conroe Area Chamber of Commerce, Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo, Montgomery County Fair Association, South County Buyer’s Group, Montgomery County Baylor Club, The Woodlands Kappa Alpha Theta Alumnae Club and Port Bolivar Mardi Gras Krewe. She is a 2003 graduate of Leadership Montgomery County, a past winner of the Conroe Symphony’s Guest Celebrity Conductor Contest, and a past recipient of the South County Chamber’s Volunteer of the Year award.

Roger Goertz owns Mr. Rooter Plumbing and Rainbow International Restoration & Cleaning. Goertz previously served as president and vice president of various service company brands, over seven years, at The Dwyer Group, Inc. a multi-concept franchise conglomerate based in Waco, Texas. Prior to that, he spent more than 20 years at Pizza Inn, Inc. in various positions including vice president of advertising and vice president of operations. Goertz attended Kansas State University and Hutchinson Junior College in Hutchinson, KS. He is a 2012 graduate of Leadership Montgomery County.

Jonathan S. Unterreiner, P.E. is a partner with Jones & Carter, Inc. and currently serves as the land development department manager for their Woodlands Office. Unterreiner has lived in Montgomery County for more than 11 years and is a graduate of the Leadership Montgomery County and the Leadership East Montgomery County programs. He is a Licensed Professional Engineer and holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Florida.

Andrew DuBois is executive editor for Houston Community Newspapers and editor for The Woodlands, Spring and Conroe products. He is a member of the Conroe Noon Lions Club, a youth sports volunteer coach and a host of Education for Tomorrow Alliance summer internship program. DuBois holds a bachelor’s degree in journalism from the University of Texas.

Leadership Montgomery County is a 501 (c) (3) nonprofit organization dedicated to cultivating the future leaders of Montgomery County. The goal of the program is to educate and inform candidates about major community issues, while inspiring and motivating them to exercise their leadership skills to benefit the community.
