Secret Santa Day is December 7

CONROE, Texas – Are their any ‘Secret Santas’ in The Woodlands? If so, they’ll probably discretely appear at retail stores tomorrow, December 7, which has been designated as “Secret Santa Day.” The Toys”R”Us in Conroe is hoping that there are some local Secret Santas.
Conroe Today was unable to reach the Conroe Toys"R"Us store by phone, but the store to the south in The Woodlands was reached and commeted on the Secret Santa lay-a-way payoff.
“We have so many lay-a-ways. For many families, the lay-a-way program is the only way they were going to have a Christmas,” said Toys”R”Us management. “About a month ago a customer opened up a lay-a-way, and the person in line behind them paid it off.”
According to CNN Headline News, there’s a national movement to make December 7, ‘Secret Santa Day.’ The idea was spawned by the actions of an anonymous benefactor who showed up yesterday for the second year in a row at a WalMart in Anthem, Arizona, and paid off twenty families lay-a-ways. The total spent amounted to over $1400, paying off lay-a-ways that consisted mostly of toys.
It’s no longer a secret having hit the national news, but the Houston Texans have a Secret Santa, wide receiver, Andre Johnson. Through the Andre Johnson Charitable Foundation, children being cared for by Child Protective Services were taken to a Toys”R”Us store and treated to a shopping spree that amounted to almost $20,000. Johnson then went to a local elementary school and provided gifts for 800 students. Those who wore his jersey number, 80, got a bonus receiving a $100 gift certificate to Toys”R”Us.
“They get a chance to get what they want for Christmas and that is all that matters,” said Johnson to Woodlands Online’s KHOU affiliate.
Don’t wait another year for the movement to become official. Consider playing Santa for day and experience the true meaning of Christmas…the spirit of giving.
