Animal cruelty case reported in Conroe

CONROE, Texas -- A dog that had been sealed up in a contractor’s garbage bag after being shot with a shotgun in the face and left to die on Bulldog Lane, was rushed to Animal Emergency Clinic in Conroe, by Tami Augustyn, a Conroe resident.
Dr. Ron Hendrick, the attending veterinarian stabilized the dog, which will remain in the care of the Animal Emergency Clinic until Monday morning, when the dog can be transported to another vet. The veterinary evaluation revealed that the dog had been shot in the face with birdshot fragments, including both eyes and inside his mouth. This has left the dog either temporarily or permanently blind and will require a specialist to evaluate his eyes. The dog also needs x-rays of his hind legs to determine why it can’t walk.
”I see animals wounded as badly as Buck about once a month,” said Dr. Hendrick.
Medical costs have exceeded $3,000, and expected to rise. Donations can be made to the Animal Emergency Clinic 920 West Dallas in Conroe, 936-539-3800.
The dog is affectionately being referred to as “Buck” after Buckshot. A Facebook page “Buck Needs Bucks for his Buckshot Injuries” has been created to follow his prognosis and documenting pictures of his wounds and medical bills. Donations can also be made via Paypal to the email link provided.
