22nd Annual 'Women of Distinction' luncheon set for May 24

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Texas – The Montgomery County Women’s Council of Organizations (MCWCO) will feature author and television talk show host, Suzie Humphrey, as the keynote speaker at the 2013 “Women of Distinction” luncheon to be held May 24, at The Woodlands Waterway Marriott and Convention Center.

A motivational speaker and an inspirational humorist, Humphrey, has starred with Clint Eastwood, shot rifles with John Wayne, and danced the polka with Lawrence Welk. In addition to her 3-volume “Live, Laugh and Learn,” she has also produced a CD titled “We’re All Walking Around With It!” which details her acceptance, battle, and transformation as a result of breast cancer, and just released her new book titled, “If all else fails…Laugh!”

MCWCO non-profit organization members and their guests will be treated to Humphrey’s unique, indomitable spirit while they enjoy lunch. The event will also feature a silent auction, but the grand finale is the presentation of the ‘women of distinction;’ the women who are being recognized by their respective organizations for making a difference in the community.

“These women have truly made our community blossom, so that’s how we decided on this year’s theme,” said Anita Phillips, President of MCWCO. “The theme of the event is titled ‘Volunteers Blossom.’ It should be a beautiful luncheon with a lot of spring flowers,” added Phillips.

MCWCO is a collection of nonprofit agencies that share their core competencies with one another. The group meets once a month and updates their services to better work with other agencies for overall effectiveness to residents of Montgomery County.
