CONROE, Texas – Conroe High School track and field athlete Tay Nance will be among those to watch at the Region II-5A Track and Field Meet, Friday and Saturday, April 26-27, at Baylor University in Waco.

Nance won the area championship in the long jump and looks to make some noise at regionals in an effort to advance from there to the ultimate prize, the UIL Class 5A State Meet.

The sophomore jumped 18-feet-8 inches at the District 14-5A Meet and followed that up with an area-best 17-7 ¾.

In addition, Nance displayed her versatility as a track athlete by placing fifth in the 100-meter dash with a personal-best time of 12.37.

On the boys’ side, Joseph Grant placed fourth (21-6 ¼) in the long jump and sixth (43-0 ½) in the triple jump at the area meet.
