CONROE, TX -- An electrical fire in the wiring of one of the CISD school buses spread to two adjacent buses, and caused damage to a fourth. The fire erupted at approximately 1:30 a.m. in the Conroe ISD bus barn located behind Armstrong Elementary School off Gladstell.

“We know what bus it started in. The bus had documented electrical issues,” said Conroe Fire Marshall, Mike Legoudes. “As recently as yesterday, smoke was reported by the driver as coming out from under the dash. It was scheduled for evaluation.”

Quick response by the Conroe Fire Department was credited with preventing damage to more buses and the structure, although there was smoke and heat damage to the bus barn. Fire crews arrived in under four minutes to the alarm. School transportation was not impacted by the fire.
