CONROE, Texas -- The following are campus updates for Conroe ISD area schools for February 21 - March 6:

Anderson Elementary School

The fruit of the month for February is an orange. Encourage your student to live healthy by bringing an orange for lunch or a snack during the entire month of February. The fruit of the month for the month of March will be a banana. Students will continue to celebrate heart month by raising money for the American Heart Association by participating in Jump Rope for Heart through the month of February. Join us on February 27 for Math and Science Night from 5:30-7 p.m. as we explore the wonders of the Math and Science world. March 3 students will celebrate Dr. Suess' birthday by dressing like their favorite Dr. Suess character.

Austin Elementary School

Congratulations to our Teacher of the Year, Elsa Narvaez, Humanitarian of the Year, Kim Bowman, and Friend of Education, Stacy Jahn. These individuals make a positive difference at our school and we appreciate all they do. The second grade music program will be on Thursday, February 27 at 1:30 p.m. Parents are invited to come and enjoy the performance in the cafeteria.

Bozman Intermediate School

Honor Orchestra will be performing on Saturday, March 1.

On Tuesday, March 4 Bozman will be holding a Bilingual Parent Information Night from 6-7pm. This event is to provide more information about the STAAR exams and to give parents ideas to assist their children at home.

Broadway Elementary School

On Thursday, February 27 is our third and fourth grade science night. The students will set up experiments throughout the building and demonstrate to our parents the different things that they are learning in Science and in Math.

Dr. Seuss Night is Monday, March 3. We have various guests coming to read on this night including Dr. Don Stockton and Sue Broadway.

Conroe 9th Grade High School

Freshman boys' basketball team ended their season Tuesday night on the road in Lufkin. The Gold team had a late surge on offense squeaking by the Panthers with a 64-55 win. The White team had a close first half against the Panthers; however, pulled away in the second half with a 46-27 win. Coach Gauen and Coach Day stressed to their teams all season long how composure, playing team basketball and playing solid defense were keys to success. The White team ended the season with a 14-5 overall record and an 8-2 district record, finishing 2nd in the district. The Gold team ended the season with a 20-4 overall record and a 9-1 district record, becoming co-district champions.

The Students of the Month for February are Brenden Veit and Blakelea Nettles. Both of these students were nominated by the faculty for showing great Tiger PRIDE.

Creighton Elementary School

Spring Fling pictures will be taken on February 20, 2014. The third grade music program will be February 27 at 9 a.m. and 6 p.m. in the gym. Please join us. Kindergarten classes will celebrate Dr. Seuss on February 28. Students will make green eggs and ham while dressed as the Cat in the Hat. Many loved Dr. Seuss books will be read during the day.

Cryar Intermediate School

On March 3, Peet Junior High counselors will be at Cryar to collect choice sheets from sixth graders. All sixth graders must have their choice sheets signed by a parent in order to register on this day. Spring portraits will be on Thursday, February 27.

Congratulations to Joseph Deveraux, Cadence Gerhard, Alyssa McKenzie, Cara Traxler, Lorena Contreras, Jahmal Jones, Emerson Walton and Chastity Proutt for each receiving a $5 gift card from the Purrr-fect Attendance Incentive Program.

Giesinger Elementary School

On February 20, 2014, we will be celebrating Read Across America Day on March 3, 2014. Community volunteers will help in the celebration by reading to our classes. During Read Across America Day we will also be celebrating Dr. Seuss' birthday.

Houston Elementary School

Ms. Brandi McCrary presented Anti-Bullying programs for all first through fourth grade students. Students are taught to identify bullying behavior and discuss ways to respond appropriately. Students are taught to be "upstanders" instead of "bystanders." Bystanders just watch what is happening, but upstanders stand up for themselves and others. Students recited a pledge, promising to be buddies and not bullies.

Moorhead Junior High School

On February 27 the Track Meet will be held at Yates Stadium.

The Band Pre-UIL Contest will be held February 28-March 1. The Dazzlers will compete at Montgomery High School on March 1.

Choir UIL Contest will be held at Christ Church United Methodist March 4-6. On March 4 the Orchestra Pre-UIL Contest will be held at Caney Creek High School from 6-8 p.m.

Reaves Elementary School

Reaves Honor Award Luncheon will be held in the cafeteria February 27. This is a special treat served by Texas Roadhouse to honor our best citizens each month.

Congratulations on a JOB well done, Honor Choir. Your performance at the Conroe High Feeder Concert was wonderful.

Read to Succeed is a free program sponsored by Six Flags Theme Parks. Students who log six hours of recreational reading from February 3 - 21 will receive a free admission ticket to the Six Flags Park in Arlington, TX.

Runyan Elementary School

Students in second through fourth will be taking their Math Benchmark on Wednesday, March 5.

Conroe High School students from both the boys' and girls' soccer team will be hosting a soccer clinic for Runyan third and fourth grade students who met their test score goals throughout the school year in preparation for STAAR tests. The soccer clinic will be held at Runyan during each grade level specials time on March 6. Spring Break is March 10-14.

San Jacinto Elementary School

Parents are invited to the Love and Logic Parenting Classes held at Creighton Elementary from 6-7 p.m. on March 20, and April 10. Parents will learn strategies that will increase children cooperation and decrease parent frustration. Childcare is provided for children over the age of 4. Refreshments will be served.

Second grade will be performing the musical Hats! Hats of all shapes and sizes take over the stage when a group of milliners help Hatless Hank find the perfect hat. You will discover that it's not the hat that makes a person special, but what's underneath. Come and enjoy on Tuesday, February 25, 2014 at 6:30 p.m.

Snyder Elementary School

February 24 through February 28 students will be participating in the Diabetes walk during PE.

Friday February 28 the Snyder Stallion Standouts for February will be honored with an extra recess and snack. Congratulations to this month's Stallion Standouts.

Travis Intermediate School

Thanks to everyone who participated and came out to show their support for African American Heritage Night and Book Fair!

March 1 is the Junior Achievement Bowl-A-Thon. The theme is Superheroes! Our team of Superheroes will bowl to support Junior Achievement and the wonderful activities they support. Thanks to all staff at our school and Sam Houston Elementary for helping our teams reach their fund-raising goal!

Vogel Intermediate School

The following students participated in Destination Imagination: The "Going to Extremes Team" consists of Alex Crosby, Kyleigh Reardon, Nicholas Hoehne, Ashley Beier and Alexis McGinnis. Heading up the "Pitch and Play Team I" will be Peter Smith, Reagan Wooldridge, Callie Hutyra, Ashlyn Molinar, Sowmya Swaminthan and Gabe Sunderman. Participating in the "Pitch and Play Team II" will be Kaylee Sullivan, Jasmine Simmons, Alexis Shank, Laila Thomas, Jenna Rieke and Joslyn Ramos. The Fine Arts Team "Laugh ART Loud" will be led by Maritza Herschmann, Sheridan Ames, Brianna Trevino, Ashley Elliot and Vivian Falconer. We are especially proud and thankful for our awesome coaches/teachers who have supported the students in this effort. They are Julia Novakosky, Veronica Gonzalez, Rachel Stevenson ZuaZua (and her husband), Eric Bolton, Suzanne Lawson and Sara Royall (and her husband).

The Vogel Music Classes have been busy lately with Honor Choir Auditions. We are proud to announce the students who have made the Vogel Honor Choir. Congratulations to fifth graders Ray Barber, Addison Cronan, Alex Crosby, Taelyn Johnson, Elizabeth Lefort, Avriana Lisembee, Julia Neveu, Nicole Rivera, Anna Schiff, Madeline Schifflett, Kennedy Welch and Hailey Williams. The lucky sixth graders making the honor choir are Amaya Bolanos, Kristina Borne, Cayla Burrows, Brittany Cobb, Maeve Jensen, Kelsey Kennedy, Kendall Peck, Avelyn Martinez, Nicole Osani, Annette Pinto, Jenna Rieke, Angelika Suda, Kaylee Whorley and Meagan Zlatich. Wilkinson Elementary School
