UPDATE: The Woodlands Fire Dept wins fire truck pull to benefit Special Olympics

Five teams participated in the Law Enforcement Torch Run (LETR) Fire Truck Pull to benefit Special Olympics Texas (SOTX), and The Woodlands Fire Department came out victorious, winning bragging rights for a year. The other four teams included: Conroe Fire Department, Needham Fire and Rescue, Crossfit of the Aces. and Team Red, White and Blue comprised of local veterans.
Each team contributed $600 for an entry fee, raising $3,000 for local special needs athletes in Montgomery County. CONROE, Texas -- Come show off your strength and skills at the Special Olympics Texas (SOTX) Law Enforcement Torch Run (LETR) Fire Truck Pull! This exciting event features a tug-of-war contest that will take place on Saturday, September 13, at Armstrong Elementary in Conroe. The Fire Truck Pull is an extreme contest that allows teams of 12 people to attempt to pull a 55,000-lb fire truck in order to raise funds for SOTX!
Registration begins at 8 a.m., followed by the Opening Ceremonies at 9 p.m. The first pull will commence at 9:15 p.m. Awards for Fastest Public Safety Team, Fastest Civilian Team and Most Money Raised (over $600 registration fee) will be handed out following the pulls.
The entry fee is $600 per team of 12 or $50 per person. If there are fewer than 12 on a team, please indicate so that “fill-ins” can be found. In order to qualify as a Public Safety team, a team must have at least four first responders.

The Law Enforcement Torch Run (LETR) is Special Olympics' largest grass-roots fundraiser and public awareness vehicle. In Texas, the Law Enforcement Torch Run began in 1985 and had grown to become one of the largest in the nation. In the last decade, Torch Run has contributed over $11 million through the dedication of thousands of law enforcement personnel fundraising on behalf of SOTX. The support provided by this dedicated group has contributed greatly to programs in local communities, which involve more than 51,300 athletes with intellectual disabilities throughout the state.
