New Caney won the Annual Battle Line on 59 Football Game...New Caney 58 - Porter 33.
ORIGINAL STORY:
MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Texas -- The New Caney Independent School District will showcase its new Texan Drive Stadium, Friday, September 12, when the New Caney Eagles play the Porter Spartans in the Annual Battle Line on 59 Football Game. The $20 million stadium, which features the largest video board for high school football in Texas, was funded by a bond election held in 2012.
The bond also provided for two schools, Woodridge Forest Middle School and Tavola Elementary School, in addition to the following buildings and facilities: Agricultural Sciences building, and the New Caney JROTC and dance hall building.
The stadium is equipped with a multi-story press box with luxury suites, and two flights of double bleachers on opposite sides of the field. The 1,400 square foot video board at the south endzone will be operated by students from New Caney ISD that have been trained to operate the sophisticated board.
Wraparound events for the grand opening game included the official ribbon-cutting on September 9, and will include live performances after the game by NCISD alumni Jason Cassidy and Sundance Head, followed by a fantastic finale of fireworks.
The New Caney Fire Department and Celestial Displays, LLC, a local Montgomery County business, have teamed up to produce a fireworks display in celebration of the New Caney ISD stadium opening. The fireworks display will exceed any fireworks show previously held in Montgomery County. The brainchild of the New Caney Fire Department, NCFD and Celestial Displays are partnering as they have previously for other shows. The result will be a world class exhibition of pyrotechnics choreographed to music. The show design and choreography is the creation of Bennie Craig, Director of Choreography for Celestial Displays. The hours of preparation and setup for the show’s production are the combined contribution of the NCFD and volunteers from Celestial Displays. In order to make this show the most spectacular possible, additional pyrotechnic material above New Caney Independent School District ‘s budget was donated by Celestial Displays, Bennie Craig and Spirit of ’76 fireworks company. The show will literally have fireworks dancing to the music. You won’t want to miss this spectacular show!
General admission tickets at the gate are $5 adults, $3 students, $6 reserved seating. To purchase tickets online go to New Caney ISD Tickets; for more information about the grand opening visit the link provided.
