Lone Star Executive Airport ribbon-cutting officially opens new runway extension

CONROE, TX - On Monday, March 23rd, Montgomery County Judge Craig Doyal, along with members of the Montgomery County Commissioners Court, proudly showcased the new extension of runway 14-32 at the Lone Star Executive Airport. Designed by Klotz Associates and constructed by Webber LLC, the project included an extension of 1,500 feet to the existing runway (elongating the runway from 6,000 feet to 7,500 feet), and included the construction of a new west-side taxiway.
Judge Doyal, Pct. 1 Commissioner Mike Meador, and Texas Department of Transportation Aviation Director David Fulton offered their remarks, as officials from the Airport Advisory Board and the City of Conroe were on hand.
“This extension will greatly enhance the economic development opportunities in Montgomery County and in the City of Conroe. It is a compliment to the recent creation of the Deison Technology Park, and marks the growth of the area,” exclaimed Judge Doyal.
TxDOT Aviation Director David Fulton described the project as “a huge step in transportation and economic development. It will likely become the airport of choice for corporate business aviation in North Houston, if not in all of Houston.”
The runway extension is part of a series of planned improvements for Lone Star Executive Airport. Next will be the construction of a U.S. Customs and Border Protection facility that will offer customs clearing services to corporate and general aviation, allowing direct flights into Lone Star Executive Airport from outside of the country.
Lone Star Executive Airport serves the needs of corporate aviation and the local aircraft owner and pilot population in the Conroe, The Woodlands, and North Houston regions. It provides a facility for locally based businesses and serves as a destination for corporate and business aviation.
