THE WOODLANDS, Texas - Sensory Friendly Day at The Woodlands Children’s Museum...an exclusive event for children with Autism Spectrum Disorder and their families Monday, April 20.

The Woodlands Children's Museum

In celebration of Autism Awareness Month this April, The Woodlands Children’s Museum will host its first annual Sensory Friendly Day – an event exclusively for children with Autism Spectrum Disorder and sensory processing differences.

The museum will be open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Monday, April 20, for this special event welcoming families and children with autism. Admission is $5 per child and adults will not be charged.

Young guests will enjoy sensory exploration through exhibits and hands-on activities, as well as social and imaginary play, art projects and a special “cool down classroom.”

Families are invited to bring a picnic lunch to enjoy at the outdoor tables near the entrance to the museum. Goodie bags and take-home activities also will be provided.

“This is a great opportunity for children with Autism Spectrum Disorder and sensory processing differences to have fun in a comfortable and accepting space – and to participate in interactive learning activities at the same time,” said Angela Colton, executive director of the museum.

She added that the event will also give families of children with special needs a chance to connect – and to meet expert representatives from Social Motion Skills and The Woodlands LearningRx, as well as Dr. Shaun S. Varghese, founder of The Houston Institute of Neurology for Kids (THINK).

The Woodlands Children’s Museum, located at 4775 W. Panther Creek Drive, Suite 280, in The Woodlands, 77381, has a full calendar of exciting activities.

Daily Admission is $5 per person 2 years and older. There is no charge for children under 2. Recommended for ages 7 and under.
