UPDATE: KidzFest postponed until 11:00 am

UPDATE:
The City of Conroe has postponed KidzFest until 11:00 a.m., when the wet weather is predicted to subside.
UPDATE:
Although the National Weather Service has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Warning for Montgomery and some surrounding counties, the radar indicates that the most intense part of the band is moving easterly through Spring and the northern Harris County area.
The warning was originally issued until 7:45 a.m., but was extended to 1 p.m. Conroe appears to be getting just light precipitation which should clear by the time Conroe's KidzFest starts later this morning.
ORIGINAL STORY:
CONROE, Texas - Saturday, April 25, Conroe will turn the town over to the kids. The City is hosting its annual Conroe KidzFest 2015, and this year they've pulled out all the stops.
Numerous cultural villages will have interactive projects to share the history of their ethnicity, and of course their will be a midway with, game booths. Other activities will include face painting, train rides, inflatables, and even a giant water slide...and the admission is FREE!
“It will be a great day to be a kid,” said Margie Taylor of Taylorized PR. As with many community events, she’ll be volunteering her time to ensure its success.
The festivities begin at 10 a.m. in Heritage Place Park, located at 500 Metcalf Street in downtown Conroe. Live entertainment will take place on three different stages, and the day will be capped off with a movie in the park at 8:00 p.m.
The city is anticipating a crowd of at least 15,000, making it Conroe’s premier family event. A map of the activities can be viewed at 2015 KidzFest Map.

The event will have food vendors at nominal costs, but many families pack a picnic for the day. Of course, with a picnic, there’s always the threat of rain to put a damper on it. Conroe Today has been reviewing current weather data and scattered showers moving in off the coast are traveling in a northeasterly direction and appear to be heading far east of Conroe. Although rain is predicted throughout the night into the morning, it’s projected as ‘scattered thunderstorms’ until 8:00 a.m. Saturday morning. The majority of the day is expected to be cloudy, which will be a welcome relief from the heat, keeping the temperature down. There’s only a slight chance of scattered showers in the midafternoon.
It should be a great play day!
