MCUW Community Resource Festival Planned
MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Texas -- Montgomery County United Way, in association with “Children’s Books on Wheels and Jack Popham, State Farm Insurance is hosting a “Community Resource Festival” to be held Saturday, July 26, 2008. The festival hours are 9:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and will be held at 804 Gladstell St. West in Conroe. The family oriented festival will feature information from local non profit agencies, face painting and games, prizes and assistance for enrollment for state health insurance programs for children.
The following agencies will be represented in booths at the festival: Collaborative for Children, Montgomery County Women’s Center, Lonestar Medical Clinic, Early Childhood Intervention, ADDA, Spaulding for Children, Texas Extension Office, United Cerebral Palsy, Coat of Many Colors Ministries, Tri County MHMR, Literacy Volunteers of America, Palmer Drug Abuse Program, MC-Cares, Montgomery County Memorial Library System and Heart of Montgomery County.
Montgomery County United Way’s initiative “Success By 6” will be represented as well. Featured information will include “Free Immunization” dates to be held across the county in July, a “Pre-K Registration Roundup” to be held later in the summer designed to increase the number of children registering for Pre-Kindergarten and the ongoing “Social Be’s” program which helps pre-k children get better prepared for school by learning social skills.
Teresa Decker, Director of Initiatives for Montgomery County United Way is excited to be a part of this festival, “the growing participation from our local non profit agencies along with Children’s Books on Wheels proves to be a very exciting day for families. We just want to share as much information as possible about the wide range of services available to the community in Montgomery County through the United Way.”
