Clinic Finds Temporary Home After Harvey Flooding; Conroe location remains open

CONROE, Texas -- Express Family Clinic was inundated with over 4 feet of water during Hurricane Harvey and lost everything. The clinic had been located at the Rayford Road shopping center for over 6 years and helped the entire area by providing low-cost visits to uninsured and underinsured patients. Timber Lakes Baptist Church located at 1540 Sawdust Road in Spring has graciously offered to house the clinic until it can get up and running again.

Express Family Clinic has a patient base that stretches far beyond the Spring area. Patients travel as far as Katy and Clear Lake to take advantage of the low-cost services and great customer service. To help combat the distance the areas hardest hit have to travel, the clinic has launched a “virtual” visit. The “virtual” clinic visit works just like a regular office visit except that the interaction is done through a video call for medication refills and minor urgent care complaints like a sore throat or sinus infection.

Melissa Herpel, CEO and lead nurse practitioner, hopes to be back in her regular spot on Rayford Road soon, but the future is uncertain. According to Herpel, there is a lot to rebuild including replacing equipment and supplies that were lost. Until then, she hopes that patients find her temporary location and continue to get the healthcare they need.
