HOUSTON, TX -- Lone Star College will host “Step Right Up,” a carnival-themed financial aid event to help students complete the Free Application For Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) application.

“Applying for financial aid can be confusing,” said Shannon Venezia, Ph.D., LSC Senior Associate Vice Chancellor Financial Aid. “These carnival-themed events will help students and their families understand a variety of financial aid options such as scholarships, grants and relief funds to help make a college education affordable in a relaxed and friendly setting.”

The “Step Right Up” Financial Aid Events take place Thursday, March 30 from 4-7 p.m. at each LSC campus. The FAFSA application (LSC school code: 011145) takes less than an hour to complete and attendees should bring the following documents.

  • Social Security number
  • Alien registration number (if not a U.S. citizen)
  • Federal income tax returns and related files
  • FSA ID (username and password)
  • Bank statements, investment records and untaxed income information (if applicable)

“Many people miss out on getting the funds they need, and a lot of money is left on the table that can help relieve their financial burdens,” said Venezia. “Financial Aid advisors will be on hand to help students complete the application, answer questions, and help them make the best financial decision based on their needs.”
