CONROE, TX -- Traditionally, Memorial Day through Labor Day is labeled as "The 100 Deadliest Days of Summer" on Texas roadways and waterways. To help combat this title, in 2017, Constable Cash implemented the Safe Lake Initiative shortly after taking Office; which includes, voluntary boater safety checks, high visibility water enforcement, and equipping the deputies on Lake Conroe with the very best equipment to serve those on the water. Today, we are proud to announce for the first time in over a decade, Lake Conroe did not have a fatality from Memorial Day to Labor Day.

Tasked with keeping Lake Conroe Safe, The Precinct 1 Marine Division worked tirelessly with our partners from Texas Parks and Wildlife to ensure the safety of each person who visited the lake. Precinct 1 Marine Deputies initiated over 460 traffic stops on vessels, conducted over 681 boat safety checks, responded to only five boat crashes, and enforced over 120 San Jacinto River Authority Violations. This high visibility approach allowed deputies to intervene before accidents occurred. This intervention resulted in nine Captains being arrested for boating while intoxicated. The success of our Safe Lake Initiative would not be possible without community support. Texas Offshore Performance Powerboat Squadron (TOPPS), the Lake Conroe Pontoon Party Group, local Marinas, and numerous social groups around Lake Conroe, assisted throughout the summer by encouraging members and visitors to abide by Texas laws and Ordinances set forth by the San Jacinto River Authority.

Constable Cash is proud of the work and effort put in each day by the Marine Division and is constantly looking for additional ways to serve the community. With the support of Montgomery County Precinct 1 Commissioner Robert Walker, the Precinct 1 Constable's Office has added an additional all weather craft to the fleet. This 23 foot Maritime 233 Voyager will allow the Marine Division to continue operations year round. With a fully enclosed cabin, Deputies will be able to respond in all types of weather conditions.

Constable Cash wishes to thank Commissioner Walker for his continued support of the Precinct 1 Marine Division, stating, "Providing our deputies the best equipment allows for the best service to our community and I am proud to have the continued support from Commissioner Walker. Please remember, no matter what time of year always be sensible and be safe when visiting Lake Conroe."
