CONROE, TX -- The City of Conroe presented its annual Employee of the Year Award before a citywide Employee Appreciation Luncheon at the Public Works Training Center on Thursday, May 1st.

Mayor Duke Coon was unable to attend the ceremony. Still, after the event, he called each award recipient to congratulate and thank them for their service to the citizens and the City of Conroe.

The City of Conroe’s 2024 Employee of the Year award winner, Brandy Taylor, has spent most of her career in the Engineering Department, where her accomplishments are valued. Brandy recently assumed a new role within the Purchasing department while continuing to provide support and assistance for multiple departments and projects. She has worked tirelessly during the past year to streamline processes within these departments, improve workflow and efficiency, and has proven to be an effective leader among her peers, by whom she is well respected. The City of Conroe appreciates Brandy’s dedicated spirit and is pleased to recognize her efforts with the 2024 Employee of the Year award presentation.

The 2024 First Runner-Up award has been awarded to Andrew Yousse. Within just two years of becoming Communications Coordinator for the City of Conroe, Andrew implemented a redesign of the City’s website that improved communications for the public sector and employees alike. He can be found at almost any hour or function with a camera, eager to take some of the best photos you’ll ever see. Whether by camera lens or graphic design, he has worked tirelessly to shine a positive light on the City’s government, employees, and community. Thanks to his efforts, visitors can easily find something to like about the City of Conroe.

When asked to consider assuming duties for a second department during 2024, the Second Runner-Up award recipient, Shawn Davis, answered “yes” simply because she saw a job that needed to be done. She accepted the challenge, remained open to new ideas while listening to teams within the Transportation and Parks & Recreation departments, and worked alongside them to create improvements to achieve department goals. Her employees say she is considered a role model and innovative leader who has remained positive and focused on improving the City of Conroe and its programs.

Congratulations to our three award recipients and thank you to all City of Conroe employees for their dedication and service to the city and its citizens.
