CONROE, TX -- The Players Theatre Company is thrilled, and also quite horrified, to welcome four of the leading local horror writers to The Owen Theatre as part of their “Horror: Stage and Page” event on Friday, October 3, 2025 at 7:00pm. Held in conjunction with the upcoming opening of the company’s production of Stephen King’s “Carrie: the Musical” the following week, the author book signing and meet-and-greet is free and open to everyone in the public brave enough to attend.

“Horror: Stage and Page” will feature local authors whose work covers a wide spectrum of the horror genre. Jeff Folschinsky is an author of horror, science fiction, and offbeat humor as well as widely produced stage plays. Jerry Purdon writes horror, dark fantasy, short stories and poetry. Oscar Whiting is an accomplished performer and storyteller who found songwriting as his gateway into fiction. And Beatrix Hollow writes horror romances with teeth that blend dark humor with twisted intimacy.

“’Carrie: the Musical’ is adapted from the very first book Stephen King wrote. He, of course, went on to become the undeniable master of the horror genre,” said Cindy Siple, Managing Director for The Players Theatre Company. “Is it scary to think that one day we might be doing a production adapted from a book written by one of our own local horror writers? I think it’s possible, and you’ll have met them right here first!”

“Horror: Stage and Page” is Friday, October 3 at 7:00pm. “Carrie: the Musical” runs October 10 through October 26, 2025. Tickets are currently on sale through The Players website (www.PlayersTheatreCompany.com) or the box office at (936) 539-4090.
