Conroe Police Warn Residents of Jury Duty Scam Impersonating Law Enforcement
CONROE, TX -- The Conroe Police Department wants the community to be aware of an ongoing scam in which individuals falsely claim to work for the Conroe Police Department or other law enforcement agencies.
We have received reports of scammers contacting residents by phone, claiming to be with the Conroe Police Department. The caller claims the individual has missed jury duty and now has a warrant for their arrest. The scammer then demands immediate payment to “resolve” the warrant and avoid being taken into custody.
The Conroe Police Department will NEVER:
• Call you to demand payment over the phone
• Request payment to avoid arrest
• Ask for payment via gift cards, cryptocurrency, or wire transfer
If you receive a call like this:
• Do not provide any personal or financial information
• Hang up immediately
• If you are unsure, contact the Conroe Police Department directly using a verified phone number
Scammers often use fear and urgency to pressure victims into making quick decisions. Take a moment, verify the information, and never send money to unknown individuals.
If you believe you have been targeted by or fallen victim to a scam, please report it to your local law enforcement agency, or to the Conroe Police Department if you reside in Conroe.
Be alert and help us spread the word to protect others.
Stay Safe, Conroe!
