MCEA to establish volunteer staff at resale shops

CONROE, Texas -- Montgomery County Emergency Assistance (MCEA) will be implementing a new program for their resale shops in the new year. Under the direction of the new store manager, both shops will be run by volunteers. MCEA has an Odds and Ends Resale shop at 1022 McCall which is also a donation site, and Unique Resale located at 1717 N. Frazier Rd, both in Conroe.

Volunteers can come individually, or as part of a group. MCEA would like to open this volunteer program up to adults and teens wanting to do a weekly or monthly service project consistently with MCEA. Volunteers service many of the community resale shops in Montgomery County...The Assistance League, Hand Me up Shop (Interfaith of The Woodlands), Something New (MCWC), and PACN resale shop. This requires less overhead, allowing more to go back to service clients in need. Optimally each volunteer would donate 2 hours each time.

Closed Sunday and Monday

Open Tuesday-Saturday 10 a.m.- 5 p.m.

All proceeds received from the sales benefit MCEA’s program and services. Donations of new or gently used items are accepted at 1022 McCall Avenue in Conroe. Many of the items are given to neighbors in crisis throughout the county. MCEA is the only agency that serves the entire county for those in need, with food, clothing, rent, and utility assistance.
