Duchy of Ironwood to hold annual food fight to support Food Bank

CONROE, Texas - Going beyond foam swords and medieval gear, the Duchy of Ironwood (Amtgard at Kasmiersky Park) is holding its annual food fight throughout the month of September to raise money and food for the local food bank.
The Duchy of Ironwood, an affiliate of Amtgard, a national role playing organization, participates in this fundraiser each year to benefit the Conroe community. The chapter will collect canned and nonperishable food and money from September 1st through the end of the month.
Local role playing chapter to collect donations through September. Last year, Amtgard as a whole raised approximately $12,448.17 and 2,867 cans of food nationally. This year, each chapter hopes to contribute and raise more.
“Amtgard Food Fight's goal is to generate awareness and donations and encourage volunteerism in support of food charities local to Amtgard chapters," said Carol Davis, Prime Minister of the Celestial Kingdom and Food Fight committee member. "By focusing our effort in the month of September, we are able to demonstrate the larger impact that our local work can have. Last year we raised close to $13,000. This year, we have increased our effort to encourage volunteerism and hope to raise $15,000 in donations and volunteer work."
