CONROE, Texas -- Texas Litter Control and the Montgomery County Spay Neuter Project are partnering to provide free spay and neuter services for cats for individuals living in Montgomery County on public assistance or Social Security and all residents of New Caney, Splendora and Porter. There is no financial requirement for residents of New Caney, Splendora and Porter. On Sunday, February 1, 2015, the "Fix a Feline for Free" Day will take place at the Texas Litter Control clinic. 50 cats will be spayed/neutered. These free services are underwritten by the Montgomery County Spay Neuter Project.

Qualified pet owners simply need to book an appointment for February 1st at the Texas Litter Control clinic. Cats must weigh at least 3 pounds. Tame cats need to be in a carrier and feral (wild) cats need to come in traps. Intake will be at 7:00am. Pick up times will be assigned as cats are dropped off. There is a limit of 2 cats per household and proof of residence and/or public assistance must be provided at check in. If you do not qualify for this program, you can still request assistance by emailing info@mcsnp.org.

"Here we go again," explains Deana Sellens, Executive Director of Texas Litter Control. "The Montgomery County Spay Neuter Project is on it! We are trying to get as many kitty spay days in before kitten season hits. I know it's Superbowl Sunday, but we'll get your kitties out in time for the big game!"

"Kitten season has already started," explains Nancy Richards, President of Montgomery County Spay Neuter Project. Richards, a long time animal advocate and volunteer, founded MCSNP in 2013. "Cats can get pregnant as early as 5 months of age and they can have 4 litters a year. Come on in East Montgomery County citizens. We don't want your zip code being at the top of the list at MCAS this year! Help us help you!"

Citizens who cannot participate or do not own a cat can still help by volunteering at the clinic as well as at offsite events for Texas Litter Control. Montgomery County Spay Neuter Project depends on donations to fund projects like this.
