CONROE, Texas -- The PlastiVan, an educational program from the Society of Plastics Engineers geared toward students in grades 3 through 12, visited Washington Junior High School on Wednesday, January 21, 2015. The PlastiVan travels throughout North America teaching students, educators, and the public about chemistry, history, processing, and environmental issues involved with plastics. Easily integrated into school curricula, the PlastiVan’s mission is to provide sound educational programs which spark scientific curiosity in students while increasing their knowledge in the contribution plastics make to modern life.

Washington Junior High Career Technology teacher Albert Murdaugh said, “I want to thank Chevron Phillips for sponsoring the PlastiVan experience. The hands-on activities, the awareness of how much we use plastics, and the realization of career opportunities right here in Montgomery County will inspire our students to seek careers in science and technology.”

Chevron Phillips Chemical Company, headquartered in The Woodlands, sponsored this activity to excite students about the plastic industry and stimulate interest in Chevron Phillips as a potential future employer.
