CONROE, Texas - "Little Red Riding Hood" will be arriving at the Crighton Theatre, with the big, bad wolf in pursuit, September 28. The show will run through October 3, but first, they need to find perfect girl wearing a red hoodie, a sinister wolf, and of course, a grandma.

The show will run Sept 28 to Oct 3 at the Crighton Theatre.

Auditions for the Missoula Children’s Theatre will take place Monday, September 28, at 4:30 p.m. at the Crighton Theatre. This will last for two hours and cast leads will practice that night from 7-9:00 p.m. Aspiring actors must be at least five years old, and auditions are for Kindergarten thru 12th grade students.

Seven-year olds start on Wednesday at 4:30 pm, but all other cast members are expected to be at every practice. Practices are from 4:30 pm to 6:30 pm, and 7-9:00 pm, Tuesday thru Friday. Dress rehearsal is at 3:00 pm on Saturday, and the show goes on at 7:00 pm. The show normally lasts just an hour, so with the help of volunteers and cast members everything should be packed up and delivered to the Missoula Little Red Truck by 9:00 pm.

Two directors will be coming from Missoula, Montana, and will be bringing all the sets and costumes. They will also go out into area school districts and give acting workshops during the week.

Jon Baldwin of Memories Unlimited will take a Cast Picture and Video, and Jonathan Craft, who has been the accompanist for the last two years, will be back again this year.

Cast Members are required to pay a registration fee of $25 and also provide a signed Photo Release form. This will have all the information necessary to contact parents in the event of an accident, illness, etc.

Pizza parties for the cast members have become a tradition, and take place on Thursday between practices. All cast members are invited.

Volunteers number between 25 and 30, and provide invaluable services like ushering the night of the show, bringing the directors supper, and help pack up the director’s truck. And to their delight, they get a sneak preview of the show, sitting in the theatre while the kids practice.

It’s amazing how fast the kids learn their parts and by Friday night they begin to get a little bored, so the directors have them do the play in different dialects like “British,” “Ninjas,” and “Cowboys”. This serves several purposes. It relaxes the kids, the parts become second nature, and they lose their stage fright. Jonathan loves this night best, and he has so much fun playing the music to suit the different dialects.
