New Caney, Texas - The East Montgomery County Fire Department welcomes everyone to the fifth Annual Halloween Open House will be 5:00 pm-8:00 pm on Saturday, October 31, at the East Montgomery County Fire Department, 19870 FM 1485 in New Caney. The community is invited to bring children of all ages to enjoy the games, learn about the fire station, and receive “treats” in a safe environment.
Costumes are encouraged. Participants can play carnival games, get their face painted, jump in the moonwalk, receive a unique balloon animal, and get on board for a hay ride on a Fire ATV. Children may handle a fire hose with pressurized water, work with a fire extinguisher, and experience the Smoke House used for training firefighters. Guests are invited to tour the living quarters, training and office areas, and of course all the fire apparatus. The Montgomery County Hospital District will have EMS personnel available for tours of the ambulance.
New this year will be the Montgomery County 911 Fire Safety House that is a walk through inflatable with household safety tips in a fun environment. The inflatable building has rooms set up as if it were a house. Each room has an interactive presentation to engage both children and adults.
“We are looking forward to having the families attend to enjoy a safe, fun event. The fire department has a lot of fun putting on this annual community event”, said Fire Chief Jeff Taylor.
October is National Fire Prevention Month and Captain Lonnie Cantwell will be available with fire prevention and fire safety information. The New Caney ISD fire academy cadets from Porter and New Caney High Schools will assist with many of the event activities.
“The witch will greet all guests with her witches brew as you enter the firehouse. Be sure and assist her with her potion making”, said Will King President of the East Montgomery County Firefighters Association.
