Lend a Helping Hand to the Woodlands Children’s Museum

THE WOODLANDS, Texas – Every year, The Woodlands Children’s Museum signs up as a main charity partner for The Woodlands Waterway Arts Festival – bringing with it an army of volunteers to help coordinate the event.
Volunteers needed for The Woodlands Waterway Arts Festival April 8 to 10
A crew of more than 600 volunteers is needed to make The Woodlands Waterway Arts Festival a reality, and anyone interested in lending a hand should apply now, Angela Colton, the museum’s executive director, explained.
When individual volunteers sign up for the event, each selects a charity partner to benefit from their hours. The museum is tasked with providing 275 volunteer hours for this year’s festival, which is slated for Friday, April 8, to Sunday, April 10.
To show their appreciation after the event, the festival thanks the charity partners for their effort in recruiting volunteers by giving them a percentage of the proceeds raised.
“The festival needs its charity partners to pull from our resources and get the volunteer hours,” Colton said. “It appeals to nonprofits to do what they do best, which is to make people rally for a positive outcome. And nonprofits need the funds – a system that works for everyone.”
Impressed by the volunteers’ dedication to promoting fine and performing arts in the area, Colton added that it is touching when they choose the museum as the recipient of their credits.
“You’ve got a huge group of people who are donating their time for art,” she said. “Without them making it happen by giving their important gift of time, the festival wouldn’t get the attention it needs.”
Volunteering for the festival is a rewarding experience, Colton said. “They’re going to walk away feeling empowered, knowing that they made a difference. Even if it’s just helping out at the gates, you’re setting the tone of the day.”
Area residents have a passion for the arts, she said, and without community support the festival would not happen. “It’s a great opportunity to get involved and make a difference.”
Each volunteer will be allowed free admission into the festival with the opportunity to browse and shop before and after their assigned shifts.
