Earth Day Celebration features unique 'green' businesses April 22

CONROE, Texas - Earth Day is a designated day in April to reflect on what we can do as consumers to limit our carbon footprints, modify behaviors, and create sustainability for future generations. Several local small businesses have banded together to bring awareness through an Earth Day Celebration on Friday, April 22 from 11:00 am - 4:00 pm, at 12621 Hwy 105 West in Conroe. Expect to see food trucks, recycling of computers/mobile devices, seeds to take home, and a med spa with products to feel confident in yourself.
The Earth Day festival was developed by Courtney Weidner of Conroe owned Farmers Insurance and Falacos, a vegan/gluten-free food truck. The green truck is equipped with 2 trash receptacles, one for composting food waste, and the other for recycling any plastic or glass product from her truck, or any other food truck at an event. Her serving products and tableware are made from corn plastic obtained from Be Green Packaging and Good Start Packaging. These disposable products are non GMO (Genetically Modified Organisms), tree-free, and make less impact on our environment and landfills to contribute to a green society.
The Falacos truck is also equipped with a reverse osmosis system so that all water used for foods and beverages is free of chemicals, minerals, and other contaminants. It’s purer than bottled water and leaves no waste.
“Falacos is excited to be pairing up with other local businesses to raise awareness on Earth Day”, said Weidner. “We are committed to reducing our carbon footprint as much as a food truck can. We recycle and compost everything coming off our truck”
Snow Cone Angels will provide freshly squeezed, organic fruit shaved ice snow cones in an array of flavors and fruit blends: strawberry, banana, watermelon, orange, and even pineapple jalapeno! This is a great partner with Falacos and their falafel taco balls in assorted flavors. All Falacos' tacos contain deep fried falafel balls made with organic chickpeas, onion, garlic, and zesty herbs nestled in a corn tortilla, then dressed up with flavorful ingredients like roasted garlic or lemongrass-basil-ginger hummus, cashew tzatziki, locally sourced produce, dried fruits, and crunchy nuts. Other items on the menu include salads, sides, smoothies, and infused water beverages.
The Earth Day Celebration will be at the Lighthouse Business Park, which is also the location of 911 Data Recovery, A Different Bloom Floral, and Mona-Laser MedSpa. Each business will contribute to the celebration by offering a unique item relative to their business. 911 Data Recovery, a computer and mobile device repair shop, will take back re-useable laptops and cell phones for refurbishing. A Different Bloom will distribute floral and herb seeds to patrons. And Mona-Laser MedSpa will give express rejuvenating facials to the first 25 customers in their doors.
“After this event I will be visiting Nature’s Way Resources to drop off compostable products to turn back to the earth. I do this after each event”, said Weidner. “We hope to see people come out and learn about LIVING GREEN!”
