Sengmany posted that workers from the Saltgrass Steak House, and customers, used a ladder to reach the woman inside her vehicle. This allowed her to crawl to safety above the raging floodwaters.

“They are holding each other so no one would get washed away by the current. They grabbed a ladder and put it on the window of the van. The lady crawled out on the ladder,” posted Sengmany.

Literally, a human bond prevented any of the rescuers from getting swept away. Time and again during the worst of times, we witness the best in human nature. This incident at the height of the storm exemplified this. During the worst of times, the community needs to heed warnings and safeguard putting themselves in harm’s way, to prevent putting good samaritans or first responders at risk.

Sengmany expressed her relief when the rescue was over.

“We are safe! Flash flood outside my work. Exit 87A, Conroe TX near 105. Props to the Saltgrass crew for getting this lady out of her van. The guys held on to each other so no one would be washed away from the strong flood waters. They extended a ladder to rescue the lady from the van. She crawled out, crossed the ladder and was carried to safety. There were restaurant guests that helped out too. Thanks to everyone involved,” posted Sengmany.

During severe weather that results in flooding conditions, head to high ground and wait for the flood waters to recede, even if it takes a while. The Department of Public Safety warns against driving through high water in this PSA video:
