The Woodlands Children’s Museum is celebrating Valentine’s Day all month long.

“This time, we’re providing an opportunity for our guests – who we love all year long – to reciprocate and show us a little love,” Angela Colton, the museum’s executive director, said.

The museum recently launched a new fundraising campaign, “LOVE Us Back” in which Colton said there are four main ways to show you care:

1. Donate a much-needed item. There is a long list of supplies the museum requires to keep operating smoothly – from copy paper and zip locks to batteries and postage stamps. For a full list, visit woodlandschildrensmuseum.org/love-us-back. Anyone who donates by Saturday, Feb. 25, will be entered in a raffle to win a free Fitbit.

2. Take a heart from the LOVE Us Back Tree. Stop by the museum, choose a heart from the tree labeled with the name of an item the museum needs, and make a monetary or tangible donation. The tree is located inside the front door of the museum. Anyone who donates something from the tree by Saturday, Feb. 25, will be entered in the Fitbit raffle.

3. Make an online monetary donation on the museum’s secure web page at woodlandschildrensmuseum.org/support/.

4. Mail a donation to The Woodlands Children’s Museum, 4775 West Panther Creek Drive, Suite 280, The Woodlands TX 77381. A receipt for tax purposes will be provided upon request.

“Many people still don’t realize that the museum is a registered nonprofit organization,” Colton said. “We need and rely on help from the community to keep our wonderful exhibits and programs going.”

Each year, The Woodlands Children's Museum greets more than 125,000 visitors, hosts about 450 birthday parties and facilitates 60 school field trips.

Colton explained that donations help keep admission prices low – and employees on staff.

The museum also needs funding to help give back to the community with participation in a number of local events such as the Lighting of the Doves and Human Rights Walk, and The Woodlands Waterway Arts Festival and Texas Children’s Outreach. The nonprofit also participates in a number of community outreach projects to local schools.

“We give our love – and we need your love to keep going strong,” Colton said.
