CONROE, Texas -- The Lone Star Family Health Center (LSFHC) Board of Directors and the Conroe Medical Education Foundation (CMEF) Board of Directors appointed Lata Joshi, MD, as Chief Medical Officer (CMO) of LSFHC and Program Director for the Conroe Family Medicine Residency Program.

“Both the LSFHC and CMEF Boards feel that Dr. Joshi has managed her roles as Interim CMO and Program Director admirably,” says Duke Coon, LSFHC Board Chairman “she has not only kept patient services at LSFHC seamless and managed the Residency Program, but also continued to drive both organizations forward. Her leadership in this time of transition has shown she is the right person for the CMO position.”

LSFHC and CMEF have a close working relationship, with LSFHC depending heavily on CMEF to assure that the Residency Program remains highly competitive and holds to its standard of excellency in Family Medicine education and training.

“Dr. Joshi has a long history of leadership with both of these organizations,” says CMEF Board Chairman Shashi Bellur, MD, “she has served as Associate Program Director for the Residency Program and seen patients at LSFHC for more than 14 years. She holds the trust and respect of residency students, faculty and patients and is in a perfect position to continue to lead.”

Dr. Joshi plays an active role both in caring for her community’s medical needs and educating its next generation of medical professionals. She sees patients at LSFHC and Conroe Regional Medical Center, and volunteers with the Conroe ISD School Health Advisory Council, National Multiple Sclerosis Society and Susan G. Komen® Houston. In addition, she works with LSFHC’s 30 family medicine resident physicians, oversees their curriculum and rotations, and is currently developing a curriculum to educate both medical residents and the community about the role that healthy eating plays in overall health.

Dr. Joshi will work hand-in-hand with LSFHC’s CEO, Karen Harwell, CPA, to further the mission of LSFHC to provide compassionate, affordable healthcare and prepare tomorrow’s family medicine professionals.
