CONROE, Texas -- Local clay shooters should take advantage of this unique opportunity to shoot targets set by two of the top shooters in the Sporting Clay World. There are two 100 target courses to shoot as well as several side events including 5-Stand and Small gauges. The courses will be tough, yet entertaining and fun for the recreational shooter as well as the sage competitor.

Sporting Clays got its start in England, but has America surpassed them in imagination and variety? Brett Winstanley from England says “No Way!” Brett has been across the globe shooting World Championships since he was 12 and represented his country on England’s Junior team. He continued shooting until he accumulated four consecutive Junior World Titles in Sporting and FITASC. Brett has been instructing clay shooters and setting courses at Blackwood Gun Club whenever he gets the chance.

Gebben Miles is ready for this challenge from Brett! He also started shooting at a young age. He won the U.S. National Championship in 2009 and since then accumulated multiple Professional, World and National titles and has now opened his personal Shooting Academy to help others with their shooting skills. These two will set their own courses, and to have the opportunity to shoot either will be a real treat!

Blackwood Gun Club is a new and seasoned clay shooting and rifle/pistol club. How is that? The new owner, Jeff Bearden, purchased the Gun Emporium/Conroe Shooting Center in July of 2016. Since then, Jeff has made numerous improvements to the entire facility which includes a Proshop, Outdoor and Indoor Event Center, classrooms, 50+ position rifle and pistol range from 8 to 200 yds, two full sporting clays courses, two skeet ranges, 5-Stand and more. The plans for future improvements and additions is lengthy, but Jeff is committed to having a family friendly, first class shooting center for the area shooters to enjoy! A very exciting addition is to add even more new sporting clay stations for this special Shooting Challenge.

Sponsors have helped to make Sporting Clay Competitions even more fun at Blackwood with added items to goodie bags, awards and prizes for shooters to win including a new Zoli Z-Sport shotgun valued over $6700. Planet Ford Lincoln came on board as the 2018 Series sponsor along with Zoli USA providing huge value for participating shooters. Sporting Clays is a fast growing sport fun for every age gender and experience level. Families are finding it a great activity they can do together.

Blackwood is offering 50% off event prices for NEW SPORTING CLAY COMPETITORS who have never been an NSCA member (National Sporting Clay Association, the governing body). This comes with a free membership to NSCA for 2018.
