Conroe, TX - One of the most popular Conroe Art League (CAL) traditions kicks off 2019 with a unique 12 x 12 art exhibit, auction and fundraiser. Known as the Conroe Art League 12 x 12 Gala, the event is held to benefit the CAL Student Show and features donated artwork created by some of the area’s finest artists. An online auction, beginning January 14, 2019, jump starts the fundraiser, and a February 23rd Live Auction and Gala marks its end.

“What makes this auction and show unique,” states Co-chair Kerry Conkling, “is that each piece of art conforms to the dimensions of 12 by 12 inches. Participating CAL members are each given a 12 x 12 panel to create an original work of art exclusively for this fundraiser. This is an affordable opportunity to support local young artists and to begin a collection of top quality original art,” Conkling added.

The special online auction site for the fundraiser, found at www.conroeartleague.com, will display the artwork from January 14 until February 20. Bidding begins at $30 and some pieces will feature a “buy now” option for a donation of $200.

All 12 x 12 artwork will be on display at the CAL Gallery at 127 Simonton Street in Conroe, February 6th through the 23rd. The fundraiser concludes with a silent and live auction at the Gallery February 23rd from 5 pm -8 pm. The live auction, conducted by auctioneer Lyn Howard, will feature “Select 12” pieces that have been selected for their outstanding artistic qualities.

“Few art sales capture the gift of giving quite like the CAL 12 x 12 Gala. Show up early on the 23rd so you can browse the dozens of dazzling 12 x 12 pieces. Each year this event is a definite hit so you don’t want to miss out,” states Conkling.

The Conroe Art League is a 501(c) 3 non-profit organization that has for more than fifty years focused on encouraging artistic development and cultivating an appreciation for the visual arts through education, exhibitions and community outreach.
