CONROE, TX -- Chief Christy recognized the bar tender of a local Downtown Conroe establishment for his courageous actions on September 3, 2022.

Max Thieme was working the bar when he observed a female patron leave the bar area and enter a single use restroom. He noticed that a male followed her to the restroom and waited outside the door. When the female began to exit the restroom, the male forced her back inside where he attempted to sexually assault her.

Without regard for his own safety, Mr. Thieme rushed to the female's aid and forced the door open disrupting the violent sexual assault attempt. The male ran from the location with Mr. Thieme pursuing him until officers could arrive and make an arrest.

Chief Christy presented Mr. Thieme with a Conroe Police Department Certificate of Valor and a Department Challenge Coin. Mayor Cjakowski presented him with a City of Conroe - Government pin and expressed his appreciation for his actions that night.

Mr. Thieme's actions should be emulated by servers everywhere as his attention to his surroundings and his quick and decisive actions prevented further assault and injury to the victim.
