Begin preparations now ahead of arctic blast

CONROE, TX -- According to the National Weather Service, an arctic cold front will bring strong winds and bitterly cold air into Southeast Texas, forecasted to hit our area around Thursday afternoon. The combination of winds and low temperatures will combine to create dangerously low wind chills in the single digits. Danger of hypothermia, burst water pipes, etc. Strong winds could lead to scattered power outages.

It is forecasted that our area will remain below freezing from Thursday night into Saturday. (~36 hours or more). This is a long duration freeze with extremely cold temperatures expected Thursday night.

Finalize your preparations for the 4 P’s (people, pets, plants, pipes) before Thursday when the coldest air begins arriving. Wrap exposed pipes, shut off irrigation systems, and drip faucets.

• Open the kitchen and bathroom cabinet doors to allow warm air to circulate around the plumbing • Keep the heat set at a consistent temperature day and night
