The City of Conroe formally designates May 14-20, 2023 as Police Week in Conroe
CONROE, TX -- During a Conroe Police Department National Police Week Memorial Ceremony on Thursday, May 18, 2023, Mayor Jody Czajkoski, and members of the City Council formally designated May 14-20, 2023, as Police Week in Conroe, Texas, and publicly saluted the service of law enforcement officers in our community and communities across the nation.
City Councilman Todd Yancy read the following declarations:
There are approximately 906,000 law enforcement officers serving in communities across the United States, including the dedicated members of the City of Conroe Police Department.
Nearly 60,100 assaults against law enforcement officers are reported each year, resulting in approximately 18,500 injuries.
Since the first recorded death in 1791, over 25,000 law enforcement officers in the United States have made the ultimate sacrifice and been killed in the line of duty, including one member of the City of Conroe.
May 18 is designated as Peace Officers Memorial Day in honor of all fallen officers and their families, and U.S. flags should be flown at half-staff.
