MAGNOLIA, TX -- On August 10, 2023, at approximately 7:20 p.m., Montgomery County Constable Precinct 5 Deputies observed a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed in which they attempted to conduct a traffic stop. The vehicle failed to yield and eventually stopped at a residence located at the 30900 block of Allene Drive in Magnolia, TX. In the process of detaining the occupants of the vehicle, the passenger told Deputies that their father was deceased inside the house, thus causing the erratic driving.

Deputies entered the residence and observed a male inside the house with an apparent gunshot wound. The victim was transported to a nearby hospital, where he succumbed to his wounds. At this time, Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office Homicide and Violent Crimes Detectives, along with Crime Scene Investigators, were called to assist Precinct 5 Constables and are conducting the shooting investigation.

The victim has been identified as Donald Hayslip, 67, of Magnolia. This remains an active investigation and appears to be an isolated event with no threat to the public.
