Strykers drop season opener

THE WOODLANDS, Texas - The Woodlands Strykers opened the 2013 season at home against the Victoria Generals on May 28. There was a good crowd on hand to welcome the team back to Strykers Stadium for the 2013 season. The Strykers fought hard, but came up empty losing 7-5 to the Generals. The Strykers will look to split the series tonight at 7:05 from Strykers Stadium located at The Woodlands Christian Academy.
The Strykers managed to score five runs. Two of those runs came from home runs by third baseman Zach LeJeune and Kevin Santana who played played at second. The Strykers offense tried to come back late, but could not get a rally going.
Spring native Nolan Riggs started on the mound tonight. The Sam Houston State bound pitcher pitched five innings. He recorded three strikeouts. Woodlands native, Greg Jakusik came into the game in the sixth inning, He would pitch two thirds of an inning before exiting the game because of an injury sustained from a collision at home plate. Caulin Cragle, who plays for Dallas Baptist University would come into the game. Matt Danton, a native of Conroe, would come into the game for the final two innings of the game.
The two teams will battle in out in the final game of the homestand Friday night at 7:05. Friday's game is a "Family Friday" with free kids admission and a postgame autograph session. The Strykers will finish off this opening homestand by hosting the East Texas PumpJacks on Saturday and Sunday with both games scheduled for a 7:05 start.
The Saturday game will be a "Saturday Drive". Fans bringing any non perishable food item to be donated to Interfaith will receive half off GA tickets.
Sundays game will be a "Memorable Sunday" which features 10 minute window to play catch on certain parts of the field after the game(weather permitting). The Game will also be the first of two "Bark In The Park where fans can register their dogs via http://www.strykersdogday.com/ and come out to the game.
