Food Review: Pie in the Sky by ''I Chew and Review''

It's always a bit of a decision trying to figure out where to eat in Conroe. It's hard to find a locally owned place that's decent and the chains that are there are mediocre at best.

I hadn't been to Pie in the Sky in quite some time, so I figured we'd give them a shot. I hadn't been in years because the service was always a bit lousy.

Not the case today. We lucked into a really nice server.

I ordered the burger to see how it compared to Honey Bee and Burger Boy. It was okay, but I definitely think the aforementioned places are better. However, it ranks above Burger Fresh (but that's not hard). I thought the patty needed salt, but when I turned the burger upside down so the bacon, cheese and all the toppings hit my palate first, the flavor of the burger improved dramatically. They do get props for not using a boring frozen, pre-formed patty! I don't think I got the best thing on the menu. I do recall their chicken salad being tasty and the salads sounded good.

For dessert, I ordered the buttermilk pecan. The pie itself was good, but it was overheated in the microwave which was a big negative for me. I'd rather have it warm out of the oven or room temp. I'd also pass on the ice cream.

Just give me the pie.
