MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Texas — Montgomery County Youth Services recently honored community and MCYS leaders with the presentation of the 2015 Bridge Builder Awards at their annual meeting.

John Bracken, MCYS Executive Director, named Adriana Richey as MCYS Staff Bridge Builder, Scott Haney and The Church at Creek’s End as MCYS Volunteer Bridge Builder and Waste Connections as Community Partner Bridge Builder. The recognition was given in response to their exceptional service to Montgomery County Youth Services and the community.

Michelle O’Rourke, MCYS Chief Development Officer nominated Adriana Richey (not pictured), MCYS Development Coordinator of Events & Communication, saying “Adriana has an inventive way of storytelling that speaks of how a client was helped, why someone volunteers or why someone is committed to be a part of the MCYS staff”.

Scott Haney and members of The Church at Creek’s End youth group volunteer for the MCYS BridgeWay Youth Shelter, a co-ed, short term shelter program for youth ages 10 – 17, who are in need of a temporary place to stay. The Church at Creek’s End youth group was nominated by Michelle O’Rourke because of their efforts spending two Saturdays a month helping out at the shelter.

Waste Connections’ Keith Gordon, Director of Information Services accepted the Community Partner Bridge Builder Award on their behalf. Waste Connections has been a regular sponsor of the MCYS Annual Golf Tournament and Gala as well as a participant of the MCYS annual Holiday Project via their annual Bike Build. In addition to their volunteer efforts, MCYS has also been the recipient of over $100,000.00 in donations from the Waste Connections’ annual Golf Classic for Kids tournament.

The Bridge Builder Award was created to recognize those who contributed their time, talent and/or treasure to MCYS during the nomination year in a way that supports and reflects the MCYS vision of being “A Child’s Bridge from Challenges Today to Achievements Tomorrow.”
